Must-Have Family Camping Foods

If you think about it, nature camping trips family fun time with family can sometimes be tempered by the daily thought "on how and what I feed them?". You do not want to spend a ton of food and cooking of meals during the weekend, but over a campfire, to experience a large part of the camp. The need for the simplicity, space and fun, family, our basic list of must-have family campingFood.

Our must-have family camping food list consists of:

Bisquick
Milk in 1 / 2 Gallons Jugs

Bacon - sliced thick

Butter in plastic containers
Cereal
Bread
Lunch Meat in a closed container
Fruit - canned, fresh and robust
The chips in tubes

Snack bars (granola, trail mix,etc.)

Green beans - canned
Hot Dogs
Hot Dog Buns
Baked beans
Marshmallows

From this list of foods we can have a weekend full of food. Many of the items on the list can be used in more than a meal. And if not, the item is still necessary to the camp experience!

First nightis always hot dogs, baked beans, chips and s'mores. This is the first meal my kids do. It's fast, easy and fun to be on the ability to cook for themselves. Nice if you try to pitch camp and settled, but still yearn to eat.

The first breakfast is usually pancakes and strongly reduce fat. We take a strong cut bacon, because it tends to burn easily. Dinner the second night is usually a bigger problem. After a day of funWe usually hungry and ready to sit and relax with good food. Our family camping food choice for this night is charcoal cooked steak on the grill directly over the fire in a double room packed heavy foil with butter and sliced onions, put in into cracks and potatoes, boiled potatoes, and beans with left over green bacon of breakfast cooking in a pot on the campfire grill. Yum! For dessert that night (if we have room and children's always) weRolling Stone fruit cake. We save this for the second night not to burn, they require slow, patient cooking. The first night in camp for children to be very excited and they do not have the patience to cook slowly.
