Family Court Lawyer - Provides Legal Assistance For Important Issues

The cases related to family are very sensitive in nature, reason being the involvement of close one's especially children (if any). If you are seeking justice for yourself in any of the cases related to family law, the first and most important thing to be taken care of is to get yourself a reputed and experienced family court lawyer. If your case is quite simple, you can settle for a family lawyer who would charge a nominal fee. On the other hand, if your case is complex and requires a lot of skill and planning, experience and dexterity must be your priority rather than the fee.

A Good Lawyer Makes Your Case Simpler!

It is always safe to work with a known lawyer recommended by your family members or close friends or people who have dealt with the lawyer before. If you cannot manage to find an established lawyer, you must search for an online on the internet to find one for yourself. Make sure to verify the legitimacy and credibility of the attorney you choose. The first interview with your legal representative would give you an idea of how well he/she may be able to handle and present your case and see whether you are comfortable with him /her. You must carry all relevant personal and financial documents with you on your first visit.

Try To Appoint A Specialist!

This will help your legal representative to evaluate your case accordingly. Moreover, you could also get an idea as to how strong are your chances of winning. An important aspect that is to be considered here is that you must choose an attorney who is specialized to deal with your particular case. This enhances the possibility of presenting your case strongly. Therefore, if you are planning to file for divorce, you must employ a divorce lawyer who would specialize in these cases. In matters of child custody, it is always better for the couple to discuss in advance about the custody arrangements and financial details as well.

Another point to be kept in mind is that it is always better to select a lawyer who is from the same state such that he is familiar with the family laws of that particular state. You must also take into account the fee charged by the family court lawyer you choose. Your legal representative can give you a rough estimate of the fee that would be possibly charged depending upon your case respectively. This will also help you arrange for the finances in advance.

Peruvian Artist Shares Why Preservation of Culture and Rituals Sacred To His Art

My artistic endeavor have led me towards a personal sense of mission, because the visual arts are more than a passive representation of the life style and culture of the Incas, Aztecs, Mayas and Chinese of the Asian-pacific.

Through my work, I seek to preserve and stimulate an alternative vision to the modern industrialized twenty-first Century. Western culture has moved away from the serene life style that my ancestors lived. It is more important to recognize that we indigenous hold on to a distinct culture with other values other ways of seeking the world.

I am forty-nine years old and was born in the Peruvian altiplano of Puno. The traditional indigenous highlands of the Andean Mountain are portrayed in my art. My parents had been driven there from their home near the ancient Andean ruins of the Incas. This was the result of their families disapproved of their relationship. I returned my home village at the age of seven and since then I have committed my art to indigenous roots, my art expresses my indigenous roots and Asian influences.

My mother has always said that in our culture, we use choose to use strong colors to appease the spirits so that they are happy and will not bring about darkness. It was not expected for the son of an Andean Mountain family to attend in fine arts school, because it is very expensive.

I began to paint at the age of seven and at seventeen studied fine arts in Peru. Afterwards I went to France, China and Mexico. I am presently studying in Salt Lake City and I am also painting full time. Through my formal training, I have been able to explore more than one theme. These themes are within Peruvian, Chinese and Mexican cultures.

In Peru, it is not common for Peruvian artist to step out of the European style taught to them in college.

I choose to emphasize in Incan, Aztecs and Mayan organic cultures of our ancestors. Rather than naming old masters and legends as my inspiration, style, and subjects I choose to name my mother as my true inspiration.

My mother Ceferina has lived a tranquil life until now. I pay direct tribute to women such as my mother. She gave me tenderness care, dedication and guidance to pursue my career.

I paint Mother Nature as the Creator of All Cultures. His is a tribute to Incan Indian women because they often work harder than men. Most of them spend all day working in the fields with three to five children to care for, and often carrying one of them on their backs.

They are willing to fight for a better life. I render an emotional tone of every rhythm of the Andean life through my vibrant use of color. I also use bright and radiant

Combinations of reds, turquoises, purples, and oranges characterize the textiles and ceramics of the Peruvian Andean Mountain.

I use many colors of the Andean Mountains. When I asked my mother why the Andean Mountains have such vivid colors, she once again replied that it is to appease the spirits so that they will be happy and will not bring forth darkness. I employ simple swirling patterns to transmit a sense of the peace and harmony that radiates from the Incan Indian close interrelation to the land. It is this sense of the sacredness in nature that comes from deep within my works. I think art is the "mother earth." Since in Peru, there are few artists who step out of the European style; there is no a vision of our own way of seeing things. It is the same with mother earth. In expressing this relationship with the land, my paintings have a profound ecological message. In Incan Indian culture, there is always a close relationship between man and his environment. There is a connection with the ecosystem in the Incan Indian world. The people are dependent on it for their very existence. !

For this reason we give thanks to the mother earth.

There are repeated historical themes in my work related to festivals. My paintings represent festivals of the countryside that originated before the arrival of the Spanish conquistadors. One painting depicts a traditional Andean ritual known as the festival of blood, in which a condor is attached to the neck of a bull. The condor pecks at the bull's head until the bull dies. The image from this ritual is very strong. The condor represents the people of the Andes and the bull represents Spain.

This festival signifies the recovery of the Andean dignity and religious imagery. The imposition of Christianity in the Incan world was never completed. Indigenous cultures of Peru have mixed their beliefs and practices with the icons and lithography of the Catholic Church. I blend indigenous and European religious symbols to show this cultural mixture, also know as mestizo.

Another strong Incan ritual still strongly practiced is to give offerings to mother earth. A type of drink is thrown to all four corner of a room before an event or before eating and drinking. This ritual is done to give thanks to the fruits of the earth that mother earth provides that we may live.

For example, the square cross was a sacred symbol for the indigenous people across the Americas before the arrival of the Spanish. The cross was found in Machu-Picchu, in the ancient civilization of the Incas as well as in the ceramics of the North American Indians and is considered part of a cultural Christ. I see synchronicity between these religions. There is a blend of pre-post Colombian religious symbols to create Andean Virgins, Christ's and Arch Angels. I am returning them to a more indigenous theme, making them Indian with dark skin and traditional symbols such as the moon.

My paintings are driven by a more ambitious goal that represents an Andean Mountain Incan Indian way of being. My work is a defense against the encroachment of Western values, because of a high level of migration of my people into the cities. Tribal people that come to the city do not want to speak the Incan Indian dialects and they forget their traditions and practices since now they rely on movies and television for self expression. My cause is to retain the cultural integrity of my people which I believe is a noble one. Through my work I seek to preserve and stimulate an alternative vision to the modern industrialized twenty first century. Western culture has moved away from the serene life style that my ancestor lived. I am in a rare position to help promote the Andean indigenous cosmic vision of the world.

In Peru, we are 60% indigenous and outsiders are relatively few in our tribal villages. We want to have our culture valued and that my people can feel proud of their cultural differences.

Continuous Flow of Income - Family Protection Tips!

Allay your financial stress and worries when you face loss of job, illness or are redundant. If you have a huge mortgage loan amount to repay every month, you will be in a heavy financial obligation. You will be bound to pay back, if not, you may risk your collateral. How can you ensure continuous flow of income? How can you stay calm even in a financially tight situation? How can you repay all your bills and meet your medical expenses? How can you save your self from the embarrassment of filing for a bankruptcy?

It is simple, you don't have to file bankruptcy or face any embarrassing situation. You don't have to sell your other assets to meet your living expenses. Payment protection insurance cover will help you. Policy providers will offer you a breather with such protective coverages. It basically covers 3 things: Mortgage cover, income cover and unemployment policy.

Benefits of such policies on payment cover?

It is convenient: It is easier to enroll for such a cover. You can get your self a protective cover and enjoy all the benefits. If you have taken a mortgage loan, you can easily apply for this cover as it is part and parcel of loan application. But, it is not mandatory that you sign up for a payment cover along with your mortgage and with the same lender.

There is a greater flexibility involved. You can either apply while you get approved for a loan or can enrol later when you feel the need. You can either choose the same lender or you can scour for a different policy provider. It all depends on your need for a policy and the nature of coverage you are expecting. For example, you may realise the importance of it when you fall sick and have a huge loan to repay.

Affordable: You can win a reasonable monthly premium if you compare online. Check for the terms and conditions before applying for one.

Eligible till: You can apply for it till you attain 71 years of age. If you don't apply for it now, when you feel the need for it later on in your life, you still have time. But, if you are ill for long, it is wise to apply for it.

Tracing Your Family Tree Ancestors With Easy to Use Software

Discovering your family roots is fun and exciting but before long you gather so much information that you need to implement a good way to stay organized. If you trace family tree ancestors, you'll likely want to find and use one of the many easy to use computer software programs designed to help you. Although I am going to review Family Tree Maker (FTM) software in this article, Roots Magic is another excellent and easy to use program that offers a free version. I would strongly recommend that you look into it before making your genealogy software decision. It's one of the programs I use myself.

When you want to trace your family tree and track ancestors, good software can be invaluable. You'll want a program that will give you good value for what you invest and one that will serve you well now and for the foreseeable future. One of the most commonly used software programs by genealogist hobbyists is FTM. It was developed by the huge and popular genealogy website Ancestry.com. It is one of the best programs available, is very robust and can be found at familytreemaker.com

This software has a large number of features that are very helpful as you build your family history legacy. You can organize and save your videos, photos and even audio clips. You can also see your people and dates in perspective with its timeline. The program has various charts and reports in addition to the central feature - the ancestral or pedigree charts. Another of it's very important features is its ability to easily exchange information with other sites and researchers. That is a "must have" feature in any program you use.

Family Tree Maker was developed by Ancestry.com and as a result, it is easy to exchange information with that site and their many resources and use them together. Additionally, Rootsweb and many other websites available allow you to connect to them and download and save important information they have on their sites that you wish to collect.

Printing out professional looking family history books or large family tree posters are also some of the features of FTM. With a little bit of time and energy, you can make attractive keepsakes that will be of interest to you and many in your family for years to come.

One of the regular features of all good genealogy software, is that it lets you to enter information one individual at a time. This program contains what I believe to be, all the basic features needed in good genealogy software. After an individual is added, you can then enter the details about each of the many details you discover about their history. Important dates and places where events happened can be added to their profile one at a time - including birth, christening, marriage, divorce, death and burial details. Also you can add any other information about them you may want to save.

After entering information about where an individual lived, the FTM software can display where they lived on a map. Another valuable feature of this program is that it allows you to publish your family tree into an online website so that others can see it and tie into it from their genealogy records. For many genealogy enthusiasts, sharing the family's history is one of the more rewarding aspects of the hobby.

FTM is a very helpful and robust software program but it is not cheap. Though not too expensive for most genealogists, many of the cheaper ( or even free ) programs can do most of the same things. There is one good free program called Family Tree Builder that you can get from MyHeritage.com. Likely the most popular of all the free or inexpensive programs is Personal Ancestral File which can be downloaded from Familysearch.com in the download area here: PAF 5.2

Family Tree Builder is available at myheritage.com/family-tree-builder. This is a great free genealogy program but remember, you are not going to get all the "bells and whistles" with the free programs that you do with the ones that take an investment. If you can afford to go with one of the programs that require an investment, it is likely worth it because you are building a legacy that will last for decades. Now, go out, have fun and happy family tree hunting!

Evolutionary Psychology-Steven Pinker & Frans de Waal (part I)

Dr. Steven Pinker, a psychologist of language at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology. In a book, ''The Blank Slate: The Modern Denial of Human Nature,'' he seeks to create greater political elbow room for those engaged in the study of the ways genes shape human behavior. ''If I am an advocate, it is for discoveries about human nature that have been ignored or suppressed in modern discussions of human affairs,'' he writes. A principal theme of Dr. Pinker's argument is that the blank slaters -- the critics of sociobiology and their many adherents in the social sciences -- have sought to base the political ideals of equal rights and equal opportunity on a false biological premise: that all human minds are equal because they are equally blank, equally free of innate, genetically shaped, abilities and behaviors. The politics and the science must be disentangled, Dr. Pinker argues. Equal rights and equal opportunities are moral principles, he says, not empirical hypotheses about human nature, and they do not require a biological justification, especially not a false one. There is evidence that some universal human social behaviors and faculties are innate, and presumably shaped in part by the genes. In ''The Blank Slate,'' Dr. Steven Pinker lists some behaviors of political consequence which he considers may fall in this category. Innate Social Behaviors *Primacy of family ties, making nepotism and inheritance appealing. *A propensity to share based on reciprocity where ...

The Nature of a Cat

How many times have you looked at someone and wondered what makes them tick? Why do they behave the way they do? Is it genetic, family environment or just plain personality? In people it is a combination of all these things.

Well, it is equally true in the behavior of most cats. All the things that have happened to a kitten from the day of birth, along with genetics have an effect on their personalities and behaviors.

By the time a kitten is born its personality is basically formed along with its genetic foundation. Genetics play a part in whether or not the kitten will have longhair or straight hair. Its coloring will be determined by genetics, along with some personality traits such as playfulness, if it will be a talker (meower) or if it prefers to be a loner.

It has been said that a kitten picks up most of its personality from its father. So if you are getting a kitten and both the parents are available to be seen, it is a good idea to take a good look at daddy and his behavior.

By the time a kitten is ready to leave the litter, its socialization period is basically over and its personality pretty well in place. A kitten that has had a bad experience during the first few weeks of life, such as someone stepping on its tail or experiencing a loud noise close to it, will develop some fearful tendencies that with effort for the most part can be overcome. So the important thing is to pick a kitten that is showing the kind of personality you would like to see in a grown cat. Granted what you do with the kitten once you get it home can change its personality and behavior patterns.

For example if you pick a kitten that is happy and friendly and keep it isolated from people, it will grow to be leery of people and fearful.
Training a kitten (and a puppy) should begin the moment you pick it up in your arms and head for home.

In the case of a kitten born to a pair of feral cats or a domestic pair of cats that are scared of their own shadows, you can with a tremendous amount of socialization grow then up to be extremely loving and friendly cats.

I have had the privilege of raising two feral kittens, one that was only days old and the other a few weeks old that have grown into very friendly cats that accept people with no problem. However, on the other hand I have a 12-year-old feral male cat that I found when he was about 9 weeks old that no amount of socialization will convince him people are fine. He is great with me most of the time, but runs from my husband and we have had him all these years.

It is true that nature sometimes overtakes nurturing. Some cats are born to be lap cats and some are not. Some seem more aggressive, while others are very passive. Some cats are high maintenance, some cats talk a lot, some like to play and others would not touch a toy mouse if their lives depended upon it.

A cat is a cat, that is true, but you can have a hand in the development of its behavior patterns around the house. It is natural for all cats to claw and scratch, climbing is a natural instinct, it is natural for cats to hunt and stalk small prey, these are inborn natural behaviors that since the beginning of time, cats have done these things. There has not been a breeder that has been able to breed these instincts out of a cat nor has anyone been able to breed an instinct to chase only blue balls into a cat. These things are part of a cat's true nature.

However, all is not lost, as you can in subtle ways, convince your cat to change some of its annoying behavior patterns, with patience and some bribery.

Scratching is a natural behavior; it marks the cat's territory. So before your kitten starts to destroy all that you hold dear to your heart, you have to begin the training process almost at once. Scratching posts are the answer, they are inexpensive to buy, you can make them or you can ignore them and let kitty claw the sofa.

There are vertical posts (make certain they are sturdy and will not fall over), there are horizontal ones that lay on the floor, they are made of many things. I discourage the ones made of carpet unless the carpet is turned inside out, as scratching carpeted posts can give kitty the idea that the rug is a prime target, too. I prefer sisal or hemp post for vertical ones and the honey combed cardboard ones for horizontal ones. A little catnip rubbed on the posts and a little coaxing from you should convince kitty they are fun.

Trimming your cat's claws at a very very early age is also a way to discourage furniture clawing, as one of the main reasons cats claw is to remove the outer shell from their nails, along with marking their territory.
Your vet will be very happy to show you how to do this, but you need to start at once.

Generally mom has already taken care of litter box training, before you picked up your kitten. However, it is important to keep a litter box in a place that is easy for kitty to find and easy for kitty to get into. As time marches on a bigger and taller box will be necessary. The most important thing concerning a litter box is that it has to be clean.

Kittens need to be played with, do not expect a lonely kitten to entertain itself all day while you are at work and then sleep all night. No, no!
Sorry, but you have to participate in the rearing of kitty, if you want a good nights sleep and a happy cat. There are many inexpensive hand held toys on the market that look like fishing poles with a mouse or fish on the end, these are great fun for the cat and you, too.

Kittens need interaction with their owners in order to become happy and well behaved cats. This interaction also helps prevent aggressive behavior, as the pouncing and chasing helps a cat get rid of its natural need to pounce and chase, and may prevent you from being grabbed by the ankles one day.

Having your kitten neutered or spayed is very important not only from a health point of view, but also from preventing a cat from spraying around the house. Spraying is a way cats mark their territory and it also is a way to release stress and tension. The earlier you have your kitten neutered or spayed the less chance you will have of this happening.

However, if you notice you kitten or cat showing signs of stress a great product you can find in some pet stores or on the Internet is called Feliway(TM) this is a scent that reminds a cat of its mother and has a calming effect on it. It can be bought as a spray or in a diffuser.

If you want to keep your kitten from learning to bite and scratch you, never and I mean never, play with you kitten using your hands. Play with interactive toys, hands are for loving pets and scratches. Yes, it is fun to hand wrestle with your cat, but remember kitty does not know it is hurting you, it is doing what a cat does and the fault is yours for allowing it.

In this article I have touched the tip of the iceberg when it comes to the ways of a natural cat and why they do what they do. Cats have been around for thousands of years and the basic nature of the cat has never changed. A cat is truly a wondrous creature and I am so glad to have mine in my life.

The Randy Miller Story

Friends and family, As some of you may have heard, our band mate Randy Miller had a large tumor removed from his left chest/shoulder area which has now been diagnosed as Mesenchymal Chondrosarcoma, an extremely rare cancer of the bone. Unfortunately, during the meeting with the specialist at Stanford this week, he was informed that the tumor removed was just the tip of the iceberg. The tumor is much larger than they originally thought and it extends into his shoulder and arm. There is also a tumor in his left pelvic area and thigh and still another large tumor located on his right adrenal gland which is possibly another type of cancer altogether. Due to the aggressive nature of this cancer which has now been graded stage 4, Randy will begin chemotherapy today, December 1. You can watch a short video on Randy Miller here: There are immediate and ongoing financial needs for Randy and Kristyn and kids, Connor and Gillian. These needs can be met by donating to a Mercy Fund set up by a non profit organization called The Stirring and currently designated to Randy Miller. There are a few different ways you can send tax deductible donations to this fund. One is online at www.thestirring.org. Located to the bottom right of the main page you will see ONLINE GIVING. If you click on this link you will be directed to a secure page where you can set up an online giving account. Once the account is set up you will see the MERCY FUND and be able to send secure donations to the family ...

Best of Dirty Dancing with Patrik Swayze and Jennifer Grey

Best part of Dirty Dancing movie. DIRTY DANCING is a film about change. The evolving nature of relationships within the family, the changes in one's view of the world during their coming of age, etc. The story takes place during August of 1963, the final weeks of the last summer of innocence for the American people. The many personal changes experienced by the characters reflect the many changes in American society that would be marked by the Kennedy assassinations and Vietnam. Female movie go'ers adored this film and repeated trips to the movie houses made it the world's most successful dance movie. As a male I find the romantic pairing of ultimate stud Patrick Swayze with very plain Jennifer Grey very hard to accept. This would be fatal for most romantic dramas, and it also may have create the intense dislike expressed by most male reviewers. The film's soundtrack found #1 status before the release of the movie. To this day it is nearly impossible to attend a wedding reception without hearing a DIRTY DANCING song. Near the midpoint of the film Baby's mother wakes up and asks Baby's father, "Is anything wrong?" Baby's father, the anti-change family member, attempts to keep all that is happening a secret. He tells his wife to go back to sleep. However, resist as one can, change is unstopable. DIRTY DANCING is the story of one person waking up just at the final moments of our country's last sleep in innocence.

Family, Incest, and Law

Family Values in Ancient Times:

Many people of the present make some very grave and disturbing assumptions about prior unethical behaviour by humans. My theories may be biased and overly appreciative of a time before Empire and there is less data due to the destructive power of Empire and the hegemony to go on. However, that data is more pure and less likely to have been promoted or propagandized for the interests of power-mongers. Top scholars and those who are regarded as great academics still debate whether women ever had equal rights and some state there never were matriarchal societies of great note. It would be a surprise for me if there were not many different approaches used in various cultures and millennia before the Ice Age we just experienced and thereafter, leading up to what we call history. Much of history today has all the markings of hegemony akin to the Middle Ages according to John Ralston Saul who says it "has come to resemble the obscure and controlling scholasticism of the Middle Ages." (1)

Could it be that ethics and moral behaviour had higher importance in the communal houses of the Kelts and North American Indians, as well as other societies throughout this awesome world? We now know it has been traversed by ancient humans who loved and played all over the place for a far longer period than we have been lead to believe even though many may not be aware of these facts. Is it possible that basic principles were easily communicated and respect was the goal of people long ago? Why even debate the point about power and money - they had little need of it. Western society still has much of the ingrained misogyny of millennia of macho Mediterranean mores and the rest of the world is far worse. What greater issue is there than incest and family violence? It rots the fabric of families and society as a whole. This quote from respected anthropologist Carlton Coon about the 'hunting societies' of prehistory sets a stage we need to appreciate and evaluate.

"While under certain circumstances, in some societies, a young man may marry a woman past menopause, he may manage to have sexual relations with other women, and may eventually get a nubile second wife." (2)

This seems a workable arrangement that includes education and the planning of families to avoid unnecessary abortion or mouths who aren't truly cared for, doesn't it? The older woman presumably would be able to satisfy the early sexual energy of the young man, without leading their social or tribal culture into all the problems associated with children having children such as often happens today. The young man might even develop some sexual techniques and understand his urges better than pure lustful infatuation or the need to run off to fight in order to get rape and pillage payment for some Lord or Caesar. Then when financially and emotionally prepared for parenting he might actually do a decent job. Coon was able to observe this still exists in some Neolithic societies of the present day. When the second wife arrived it might present some problems but in most cases the first wife would probably enjoy helping the new wife to understand her opportunities better. Yes, I do overstate the case, I suppose, but in the Keltic clandoms it was even better than I am suggesting.

Kids were a resource and source of pride for the whole clan. In the dynamic of raising a child this allowed for many things to occur in a more mature environment with less emotional blackmail. That does not lessen the aspirations parents have for their children but it makes for a lot less vicarious pressure, as parents have to spend all their waking hours attending to the needs of kids; who see a way to get what they want by playing to the unrealistic parents who have yet to learn what they need to know. There are aspects of North American Indians tribes that show a similar approach to child-raising. The Stadacona Indians sent some of their children with Cartier, much as the Kelts shared educational opportunities with trading partners. Aunts and uncles do the disciplining of children among the Cree. The extended family and communal living is very clannish and even Gibbon noted there were heraldic Indian regalia that mirrored those of British heraldry.

The Hurons and Iroquois are most like the Irish or Norse Kelts in their social structure. Crimes committed by a member of a family or clan (tribe) are paid for by the whole family. With this kind of policing or morals bureaucracy would starve for want of something to do. The compassion and behaviour modification of a family is better than that of the police or prisons, I think. The women of the Iroquois were the decision makers in most cases except the daily running of a war once it was approved. These women owned the assets or leaseholds. No one owned land just as was true in the land use laws of the Kelts which the English had to expunge along with all other just and fair culture when they finally forced Ireland under their rule. The Indians still practice Potlatch or the giving of respect and assets despite the 1920s law against it in Canada. We can all imagine the Tax collectors don't like this kind of custom. It was much more than mere taxes the government sought and the Supreme Court has ruled the government and Catholic Church were intent on the total destruction of Indian beliefs, in recent rulings.

"In any event, the incest tabus recognized in any given hunting society bear some relationship to his choice (or to his and/or her parents' choice) of a marital partner. Of these prohibitions there are three basic and quite different incest tabus, prohibiting intercourse between father and daughter, mother and son, and brother and sister. These prohibitions are not based on instinct or the inductive experience of the genetic consequences that sometimes result {Like the idiots and haemophiliacs or sexual deviates who lead us as a result of 'noble' heritage - to war and other great heroic endeavours.}. Some individuals violate them, but if so the violations do not result in marriage.

To a considerable extent these primary incest tabus are based on two kinds of antisocial results. Parent-child intercourse would disrupt the lines of authority between generations, lines that hold the family together. Brother-sister intercourse during adolescence would inhibit intermarriage between families, reducing their interdependence. Were a married woman to have intercourse with her brother, it would create a state of serious conflict between her husband and his brother-in-law, two kinsmen by marriage who, in certain cultures, might need each other's confidence and help." (3)

The 'controlling scholasticism of the Middle Ages' referred to by Ralston Saul was part of the continuing effort to destroy these real family values. The marriage laws of the Kelts had to be eliminated because these laws were equitable and fair to women and children. Bastards were not ever possible in Keltic society and the idea of a single mother was totally different than it is today. Of course, the payment of mercenaries including the rape and pillage which enabled men to gradually lose all decent tabus or constructs based on the ancient means of care for each other that were part of all the systems Brotherhood developed, through common sense. The elevation of Gods from the state of hero (mere human) to Divine Rights and separate from Nature, is at the root of a lot of it. Heyerdahl thinks Odin was a Keltic king in southern Russia around the time of Christ and I find that entirely likely. When man began to say other men were unable to comprehend nature and needed an interpreter for the collective soul of humanity and all life, things began the downward drift to the hegemony that often even denies man has a soul.

The extent of character assassination by academics that do not delve into the reasons for Caesar's propaganda or quote others who did not employ due diligence is as evident today as it ever was. The people who focus on Keltic sacrifices and trophy head customs are telling a fact but not the whole truth. What is abortion and capital punishment if not sacrificing the life of people, perhaps for a common good? Victorian prudishness developed the 'sins and demons' fear-mongering of Jehovian greed even further. In fact the Western Tradition has succeeded in the destruction of all Ancient Knowledge if you were to believe what is allowed to be disseminated through 'official' or educational channels. The Temples of Saphos and Mesopotamia joined all Mediterranean cultures in some form of forced prostitution for women, while the Biblical 'Devoted Ones' were sacrificed when the priest or his cronies were through with other obvious and disgusting uses of them. Often the orphans and waifs caused by the changing laws and racial unrest and prejudice fomented in these times, led souls to a place worse than the Hell ruled by the Catholic created Satan. The excellent book called The Golden Bough by Sir James Frazer gives ample evidence from credible sources about burning Red Heads and women of all classes being forced to sell their bodies and give the money to the Temple. It may have started with Abraham (and other Ur-Story proponents with their harems) and his baby-factories but it was certainly not the way of ancient Kelts even after his time. The Indians of North America and the natives of Hawaii are ample testimony of the diversity of Keltic egalitarian approaches.

The Growth of Gated Communities and Their Impact of Social Segregation

Gated communities have always been with us. This dates back to the very earliest civilizations where the very wealthy have favored high walls and closed gates that have turned their communities into very private communities. In addition to providing increased security, the purposes of these communities were to foster segregation, and increase the sense of exclusion. Put bluntly, the rich desired to separate themselves from their less socially advanced neighbors.

In recent years there has been an increase in the construction of gated communities in the United States. At the same time, these communities are becoming less the exclusive haven of the very rich, and have become more and more the choice of the upper middle class and even middle class homeowner. The major reason cited for this increase is the desire for more personal safety. Fueled by a media that almost constantly bombards us with images of violence and crime, people have become more fearful. The idea of the walls and the controlled access gates promises an escape from this fear. Inside the walls, surrounded by neighbors who share their values, people feel safer. The are not as fearful to approach old age, or raise their children there.

Yet there are some who see the gated community as another divisive trend in American society. They think the major reason for the gated community is to isolate the residents from segments of society they consider inferior. One study often cited to support this idea showed that black Americans were the group least in favor of living inside a gated community. They gave as a primary reason the fact that they had been longed isolated from the mainstream and treated as social inferiors, and were not anxious now to engage in the same behavior.

The people who think the private communities divisive in nature also point to the fact that many of the newer communities are including more parks, recreational fields, shopping centers, and even schools within the walls and behind the gates. The residents are further isolating themselves from those they consider their inferiors, the critics claim.

From the very start of our country, Americans have differed in their residential choices. There are those who preferred the excitement and opportunity of the city, and there were those who preferred the open spaces and peace of the country. As in most other things there is a wide diversity in where and how we chose to live. Social segregation comes from attitudes in the hearts of men, and not from where they live. Anti-discrimination laws exist and these prevent the gated community from excluding any who can afford to live there, and have the desire to do so. There are many reasons why the security of the gated community is more wishful thinking than reality, but even so that remains the prime reason for choosing it as the place to make your home. There are always going to be people who feel superior to others, but you are just as likely to find them under a bridge or in a homeless shelter as in a gated community.

Teaching Children About Nature

Children who have spent unsupervised time in nature grow into more confident adults - adults who feel at home in the world. As children play, they make no distinction between the natural world and themselves; they have an innate sense of themselves as belonging to and part of Nature.

Children naturally connect and commune with animals as their "friends." This is why they are drawn to animal toys and cartoon figures. Though there are frightening and dangerous animals in the world, this is knowledge that children acquire later -- and is a modification of the basic feeling of trust and safety they have with their animal companions.

Too often in modern culture, "growing up" means becoming increasingly alienated from Nature and from our natural selves. A key part of saving our planet is changing our relationship with it, befriending it, and feeling at home in the natural world.

Since most of us live in cities these days, it is easy to assume that a connection with nature is not possible, since nature is "out there" somewhere -- in a national park or wilderness area. But nature is as close as our own animal bodies which breathe in rhythm with the living world. We carry within our very cells the history of the evolution of life on this planet, and share mitochondrial DNA that is unchanged from our earliest Homo sapiens ancestors.

Even in the city we are surrounded with the wild nature of this planet. The Falconer of Central Park is a fascinating book that describes the myriad species of birds that alight in Central Park in New York City as they annually migrate with the changing seasons. News articles highlight the excitement New Yorkers feel when a raptor builds a nest high on an office building on Wall Street. Office workers watch the parents as they build the nest and sit on the eggs, and celebrate the birth of the young raptors.

Cities have parks, rivers and gardens; wherever you are, the weather is a constant reminder that you are part of a globally interconnected natural system. The wind on your face as you walk from the parking lot to your office building is part of the Earth's natural spirit that is touching you.

Abandoned city lots are quickly colonized by weeds, trees and shrubs as well as birds and small animals. Cities and suburbs are home to an astonishing array of wildlife. Birds, insects, rodents, amphibians, reptiles, small mammals such as rabbits, chipmunks, squirrels, raccoons and possums -- even deer, coyotes and foxes -- make their homes among us. Children are often naturally quite aware of and curious about the animal life they see.

Educating children about Nature - through teaching, talking about it, and spending time exploring it - helps them know their place in the natural world. This breeds self-confidence, wholeness, and a sense of community with all living things. Knowing that they belong to the natural world changes how they behave. Children who are "ecologically literate" enjoy recycling and taking care of the environment.

Ben: Diary Of A Heroin Addict 05/05

As a bright schoolboy from a loving, middle-class family Ben Rogers was expected to make a success of his life. Raised in a quiet, picturesque village Ben was a Boy Scout, loved cricket, played in the school orchestra and looked forward to the annual family holiday. But despite his privileged start in life Ben found himself on the road to ruin, injecting heroin up to four times a day. During his last months, Ben kept a video diary of his drug use and desperate attempts to come off heroin. Ravaged by the drug, Ben's body began to break down: he developed DVT and his veins were rendered so useless he had to inject into his groin. Despite his family's best efforts, Ben couldn't stop. He was haunted by, and hooked on, heroin. Ben: Diary of A Heroin Addict charts his lies and manipulation as he mixes his next hit whilst telling his mother Anne he is clean and making a new start. It reveals Anne's anger and tears as Ben loses his fight against the drugs and shows how father Mikes unconditional love continues undiminished as they are forced to deal with their sons addiction. Director Olly Lambert comments: It's incredibly rare to come across such raw and unflinching footage of a man so close to an abyss. I was speechless when I first watched it. I hope the film finishes what Ben had begun: to give people a visceral understanding of the nature of addiction. It has been a privilege to try and unpick who Ben really was using the intimate legacy hes left behind. "I hope to god you ...

Best Places to Visit on California Family Vacation

California family vacations take on various guises. It could be a back to nature trip targeting nature parks and wildlife preserves. Or it could be a fun jaunt from one amusement park to another. It could even be a drive down history lane in search of elusive facts that the history books refuse to detail. Then again, it could be a momentous tour that incorporates all of this and more. The only things certain about a California family vacation would be the enormous element of fun and all pervading sunshine.

As long as there's Disneyland in California and you have kids, the two shall meet, possibly more than once. This would be the unwritten law as far as California family vacations are concerned. Now add Pier 39, Yosemite National Park, Legoland, San Diego Zoo, and Sea World Adventure Park to the equation and it tilts in favour of a tour of the whole State rather than just the South. With that beautiful year-round golden sunshine and silver beaches strewn all along the way, why would any one not consider a California family vacation?

You can take your California family vacation down a path less travelled into lesser known destinations like the Shasta Cascade region with its waterfalls and hypnotising rural charm. The Lake Shasta Caverns and Waterworks Park will be huge hits with the kids. Visit the ghost town in Shasta State Historic Park before you slip down to explore downtown Redding.

The northern region has plenty more to offer for a California family vacation. You should definitely visit the Redwood National Park along the coast to see the majestic red wood trees as old as time. Come down to Mount Lassen with its volcanic peaks, the Sacramento Valley, and move across to scenic Lake Tahoe.

Next stop on your California family vacation is the incredibly unique city of San Francisco. From its majestic Golden Gate Bridge to its famous twisted streets, this is one place that will surprise you with its diversity and sheer liveliness. Hop aboard a street car to visit China town or get aboard a boat cruise to explore Alcatraz. Catch the train to Fisherman's Wharf. This is one town that is fun for the whole family.

Well, when the going gets tough, the kids start screaming. Your California family vacation now gathers momentum as it goes southward to Los Angeles, Anaheim, and San Diego. It's time for that second wind that adds a renewed zest and flavour to your California family vacation. Disneyland in Anaheim is what the kids where waiting for and here it is. This was the promise that kept them on their best behaviour as you took your time shopping and browsing boring museums.

Babongo of Gabon - The Iboga Ritual - Part 3

An Interesting Video The guy in the film lives with them for a while and goes through the ritual. They give him TONS of Iboga. There was even a point where they didnt want to give it to him as they though the may die. I am satisfied that he doesnt trivialize the experience either, as we would see in other videos. It was very real. Babongo The Babongo of Gabon have an expertise and knowledge of the forests and are unique in their use of Iboga. Iboga is a powerful hallucinogenic which lies at the heart of Babongo culture and Bwiti religion making them famous throughout Gabon. The Babongo have recently changed from being nomadic hunter-gatherers to settled villagers with subsistence agriculture supplemented by hunting. Bwiti Bwiti is a West Central African religion practiced by the forest-dwelling Babongo and Mitsogo people of Gabon (where it is one of the three official religions) and the Fang people of Gabon and Cameroon. Modern Bwiti is syncretistic, incorporating animism, ancestor worship and Christianity into its belief system. Bwiti use the hallucinogenic rootbark of the Tabernanthe iboga plant, specially cultivated for the religion, to induce a spiritual enlightenment, stabilize community and family structure, meet religious requirements and to solve problems of a spiritual and/or medical nature. The root bark has been used for hundreds of years as part of a Bwiti coming of age ceremony and other initiation rites and acts of healing, producing complex visions and ...

Grizzly Man

www.filmchannel1.com GRIZZLY MAN is a fascinating documentary about a man who lived for 13 summers among Alaskan grizzly bears before he and his girlfriend were killed and eaten by one in 2003. Written, directed, and narrated by acclaimed German director Werner Herzog, the film tells the story of Timothy Treadwell, who was 46 at the time of his death and whose almost 100 hours of videotape that he shot of himself among the wildlife was used by Herzog to allow Treadwell to tell his own fascinating story. Early in the film we see Treadwell with a huge grizzly in the background as he passionately talks about the bears and says those prophetic words, 'I will die for them.' The bears became so accustomed to Treadwell that we see him even touch one on the nose, as well as stroke one of the wild foxes around his camp like a family pet. For at least his last two summers, Treadwell was accompanied by Amie Huguenard, whom he had met in Boulder, but she was terrified of the bears and appears only twice in Treadwell's footage, because he wanted to give the impression that he was living alone with the bears. We also see how Treadwell would do more than one 'take' for the camera, sometimes calm and sometimes wild, and as the film progresses, he comes across as being more of a ranting, paranoid kook than a noble spirit. His own dialogue and Werner's interviews with family and friends also reveal Treadwell's eccentricities and deceptions. Two intereseting scenes are footage from ...

Motor Home Vacations - Oregon's Untouched Nature

Oregon is a wonderful motor home destination. It has everything you could want - great hiking, fishing and boating surrounded by mountains, forests and coastline. It's also a favorite destination for RVers, so there are lots of great places to stay.

The Oregon coast is known for its beauty. Here, the lush forest comes right up to the sandy beaches. In other parts, there are rocky cliffs and overlooks where you can watch the waves crashing below.

From the northernmost town of Astoria down to Brookings in the south, runs 400 miles of coastline. All along the way there are quaint little towns and things to see and do.

There are motor home parks all up and down the coast at every town along the way. Although it's not on the coast, Loon Lake RV Park is close. It sits on Loon Lake, and there are lots of sights available with hook-ups and services. It is close to the town of Reedsport and a short drive from the coast, as well as other sights like Oregon Dunes National Recreation Area.

If you want to be right on the ocean, you can stay at Turtle Rock Oregon Coast RV Park, and the sandy beach will be one step off your campsite. This is a very popular spot because it's pushed right up against the lush forest, with the ocean on the other side.

Right in the middle of the Cascade Mountains, the Columbia River cuts through at sea level. Thousands of years of rushing water chiseled this mighty gorge out of the mountains, and it is a wonder to behold.

At the Columbia Gorge in northern Oregon, you can stand on cliffs of 4,000 feet and look down at the river below. Down in the canyon, you can enjoy the natural beauty of the walls carved out of rock, or enjoy activities like wind surfing, sailing or river rafting.

Bride RV Park and Campground is right in the middle of the Columbia Gorge area, on the banks of the river itself. Not only do you have the majestic Cascades towering on all sides, you are just minutes away from some of the best salmon and trout fishing in the entire world! You'll also be close to one of the best wind surfing spots.

Portland is only an hour away from the Columbia Gorge, and it is full of great places to park your motor home, if you want comforts of the city.

Hells Canyon is not a pretty name, but it's a beautiful place. The 650,000 acres of the Hells Canyon National Recreation Area are part of the Wallowa-Whitman National Forest and are more gorgeous than the name implies. Here you can see North America's deepest gorge, vistas where you can see green mountain peaks in every direction, and rustic historic sights to enjoy, like the Oregon Trail that winds through the canyon.

The best thing to do in Hells Canyon is explore. There are lots of things to see and do, including some of the best whitewater boating in the world, wilderness hiking and horseback rides. At Hells Canyon, you can see the real beauty of the old American West.

Hells Canyon is in the northeastern part of Oregon, up against the Idaho border. Probably the most popular motor home park in the area is the Hells Canyon Resort. It is fully equipped with everything you need for a comfortable and convenient stay, including big sites, full hook-ups, and even a hot tub. Located right off Highway 12, it is not far from the entrance to the canyon. For those who enjoy boating, there is a full marina.

For a slightly more rustic stay right on the banks of the Snake River, the Woodhead Park right above Hells Canyon Dam is a good choice. The sites sit at the edge of the arid mountain foothills, covered by trees for shade. It's not as fully equipped as the Hells Canyon Resort, but it is much quieter and closer to nature.

Oregon is one of the best places for motor home travel. There is an abundance of pristine nature, as well as a quaint rustic charm, that will make your trip enjoyable.
