The Picasso Museum, Malaga

The Pablo Picasso Museum in Malaga is a wonderful tribute to this great
and innovative artists of the twentieth centuary. It was a long time desire of the artist himself, as well as his family that he had a presence in his birthplace city of Málaga should be. The Picasso Museum is one of only three in the world exclusively dedicated to the artist. He was one of the most influential artists of the twentieth century as it is both innovative and artistic stylesand therefore for the course of modern art.

The Picasso Museum is located in the historic city center and
accommodated, is beautiful in the 16th. centuary Palacio de Buenavista.
The majority of the permanent collection is in the exhibition
Palacio de Buenavista.This great and noble house of the typical Andalusian
Architecture of the time with its blend of Renaissance and
Mudejar influence. Christine Ruiz Picasso, the main source of
Funds hadexpressed their wish that the building was of typical
Andalusian architecture, and this is indeed a fitting monument to
House of the great man's work.

In the twelve halls, the Picasso Museum displays amost 200 works of art
the permanent collection display. The art gallery also
are 4 other rooms for temporary exhibitions. The completion of the
museum facilities are an auditorium, a library, an education --
Department and an investigation and a promotionCenter.

The main collection is donated primarily from the works or on loan
by Christine Ruiz-Picasso, daughter-in-law of the artist, and their
Son Bernard, grandson of the Picasso Museum opened with 204 permanent
Works, of which 133 are due to Christine's cooperation. An additional
49 works are on free permanent loan for a period of 10 years. Another
40 pieces are on loan from Bernard for the period of one year. Of
invaluable in this collectionconsists of works and paintings
that Picasso gave to his family members and the majority of the
exhibits in the collection have not been seen in public
before. Among the numerous works to be seen for the first time are
Olga Kokhlova con Mantilla (1917), Madre y niño (1921-1922) and
Retrato de Paulo con Gorro Blanco (1923).

Picasso, ceramics and traditions.

This exhibition brings together some of Picasso's amazing ceramic
and from the past Milenia in the Mediterranean, which had so affected.
There are 56 original works by the artist and 36 from different historical
Periods from antiquity to the 19th. centuary.

13th.March.-11. June 2006.

The Picasso of Antibes.

In 1946, Picasso gave one of the major rooms in the castle of Antibes was
to use as a studio. He was so happy with the offer, he said,
"I'm not justpaint to go, I'll decorate the museum too! "The resulting
Series of paintings to express the joy of liberation. Picasso later
has sculptures, graphics and ceramics to this collection is so
the basis for the first French museum dedicated to him.
This exhibition comprises a selection of important works,
none of which have been in Spain ever seen.
