Fall is the most beautiful time of year and by bringing the beauty of nature's bountiful gifts indoors we can capture those moments and appreciate their profusions of color long after the snow flies.
As fall approaches you should be preparing to take a nature walk. With your bag in hand, look for the most colorful of leaves falling from the majestic trees. Pick up the fallen pine cones, clumps of moss, unique looking twigs and vines, and anything else that strikes your fancy. After you have accumulated your bounty bring them inside.
On a fun-filled afternoon you should embark on a quest for the most perfect pumpkin. Most places have pumpkin patches that you can trudge through to select your own, unique pumpkins. I would select a few in different sizes for decorations, as well as for carving and possibly a pie! Also, don't forget to pick up some colorful and interestingly shaped gourds, Indian corn and corn on the stalks. These items can be used to make beautiful decorations inside your home.
Once you have all your items gathered together let your imagination run wild to best utilize your finds. Some leaves, moss and twigs would make a wonderful and showy wreath for your door.
The pine cones, gourds and Indian corn can be made into a beautiful display for your mantle or table. Place cinnamon scented candles throughout to set the mood of warmth and love for your family and friends to enjoy.
Best of all - don't forget to have fun carving that pumpkin! Make one a happy face and another scary. Use the corn on the stalks to decorate your porch or entryway.
And when the snow begins to fall the decorations that remain will remind you of fresh, crisp fall days filled with laughter and sunshine.
